There use to be an unspoken etiquette or norm that a sitting president would respect the office of the presidency and not criticize a former president despite differences. Over the weekend at a black tie dinner event, President Trump told his supporters that Biden for 30 or 40 years was a stupid guy. A quote from Trump about Biden, “He was always a mean Son of a B—-.”

He went on to say no one should have empathy for Biden just because he has cancer because they should remember he was a bad guy. Then Trump boasted that things aren’t working out well for Biden. This doesn’t seem to follow the rule of loving thy neighbor as thyself. Let’s elect individuals who can lead with dignity and show respect for everyone. We should expect this from a president.
