Our Officers

CHAIR: Geoffrey Hoy

THE CHAIR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR OVERALL OPERATIONS OF THE PARTY AND
WORKING TO ENSURE DEMOCRATIC VICTORIES COUNTYWIDE.

After 40 years of serving small and large urban and suburban congregations as pastor, Geoffrey wanted to spend his retirement doing something useful and effective for his community. Beginning as a chair for the Rowan Senior Democrats, he now serves as Rowan County Democratic Party Chair– a role he has filled for the past 9 years.

I am very pleased to be a Democrat,
working on the issues that improve
peoples lives.

Geoffrey Hoy

FIRST VICE CHAIR: Tangela Morgan

THE FIRST VICE CHAIR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR PRECINCT ORGANIZATION, AS WELL AS
COUNTYWIDE GET OUT THE VOTE (GOTV) OPERATIONS FOR ELECTIONS.

Tangela is a Stanly County native, educated in the Stanly County public school system and a graduate of North Stanly High School. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications from Wake Forest University, and a Master’s Degree in Education-School Counseling from Liberty university, which saw plenty of use during her 20+ year tenure in the Rowan Salisbury school system. A classroom teacher for 14 years and a school counselor after that, Tangela is also a mother of two and a member of the Delta Sigma Theta sorority. Not content to serve her community in just one way, she is also a member of the Salisbury-Rowan NAACP, the Secretary/Treasurer of the Rowan Salisbury Association of Educators, and serves as Democratic Precinct Chair for China Grove. Currently a member of Crossroads Church in Concord, her home church is New Hope Baptist Church in New London.

I believe that a safe, thriving community is one in which the citizens are healthy, educated, and gainfully employed. Right now there are systems and policies in place that prevent the citizens of Rowan and Stanly County from thriving. We all deserve clean air and water, proper mental and physical healthcare, exemplary education, and living wages.

Tangela Morgan

SECOND VICE CHAIR: Shawn Rush

THE SECOND VICE CHAIR COORDINATES THE COUNTY PARTY TRAINING AND DEVELOPS
PROGRAMS TO PROVIDE PRECINCTS WITH THE NECESSARY TRAINING TO MEET THEIR
GOALS.

Owner of SR Political Management Agency, Shawn previously acted as Third Vice Chair of the Rowan Democratic Party and is now serving as the Second Vice Chair. Shawn hopes to use this position to train new precinct candidates on how to expand their communities to grow Democratic parties, in order to ensure that we build an inclusive environment where all citizens are educated about the voting process. In addition to these efforts, he currently serves as Mayor Pro-Tem in East Spencer, NC.

My passion for being 2nd VC comes from
Proverbs 22:6 which says: “Train up children in
the right way”. My plan is to educate,
encourage, and empower.

Shawn Rush

THIRD VICE CHAIR: Elim Craighill-Middleton

THE THIRD VICE CHAIR DEVELOPS AND COORDINATES COUNTY COMMUNICATIONS POLICIES TO ILLUMINATE ISSUES AND ANNOUNCE POLITICAL ACTIVITIES AND/OR ACCOMPLISHMENTS TO VOTERS IN THE COUNTY.

A native of the area, Elim looks forward to bridging the political divide by bringing light to the issues that affect all of us and revealing that we aren’t so different after all. With a wide-ranging skillset from culinary arts to fashion design, Elim brings his past experience as a social media and advertising manager to the Rowan County Democratic Party in the interest of educating everyone about the importance of local elections and party issues.

I want to make things better– for all of us. Communication and education is the only path forward.

Elim Craighill-Middleton

SECRETARY: Dianne Sartiano

THE COUNTY SECRETARY MAINTAINS ALL RECORDS OF THE PARTY, INCLUDING MEMBERSHIP AND MEETING MINUTES, AND ENSURES TIMELY NOTICE OF ALL MEETINGS.

Hailing from Brooklyn NY, Dianne and her husband, George, moved to Pittsburgh where he started his academic medical career and she became involved in university organizations. Dianne’s involvement continued when they moved to Columbia SC in 1976 to the newly established U of SC School of Medicine. After serving as the founding President of the USC School of Medicine Women’s Group, they moved to Salisbury where Dianne’s first Rowan Democrats meeting was a County Convention. She was asked to serve as the party Secretary and casually agreed; 14 years later, she still serves as Secretary with as much enthusiasm as she’s always had.

I am happy to answer your questions or
direct you to someone who can. We are
Democrats. We are family.

Dianne Sartiano

TREASURER: Linda Perdue

THE COUNTY TREASURER MANAGES FINANCIAL RECORD-KEEPING AND FINANCIAL DISCLOSURE REPORTING FOR THE COUNTY PARTY.

Born and raised in Virginia but a delighted Salisburian, Linda is a proud grandmother enjoying a well-deserved retirement while raising a 14-year-old. An accountant for many years, Linda enjoys maintaining the books for the Rowan County Democratic Party– it keeps her mind active and alert while also giving her an opportunity to give back to the county she calls home.

When I first moved to Salisbury, trying to meet
people, I read an article in the Salisbury Post
about the Senior Democrats meeting for breakfast.
I went and haven’t looked back since.
Everyone stays involved and we have
accomplished so much. I am really proud to be
included in this Democratic Party.
