July 4, 2026 is our day — the people’s day — to celebrate 250 years of freedom and democracy and on this day, we must not let current affairs disturb our thoughts as we chew our burgers and drink our sweet tea.
What a glorious time this is for people living on American soil. The 4th of July, 2026, is our celebration. So, let the fireworks begin!
As the people of the US celebrate this great big birthday, let us also remember what we represent around the world.
Our democracy has set an example for people everywhere and what it means to live in freedom and enjoy liberty and justice for all.
America has been a beacon of hope and dreams fulfilled for millions of people from the remote corners of the world and for those escaping political and religious persecution. For the poor and destitute, landing on American soil was their dreams fulfilled.
As we celebrate, let us pay tribute to some of the people who made “our” America possible.
We can start with Thomas Jefferson and those brave men in 1775 and 1776 who fought for and won our Independence.
We can cherish the dream and foresight of Abraham Lincoln and his fight to end slavery. He paid with his life.
Patrick Henry’s famous last words, “Give me liberty or give me death.”
Susan B. Anthony and the people who fought for women’s right to vote. MLK and his fight for civil rights. JFK and his reminder that we are a nation of immigrants and/or descendants of immigrants.
If only some of these people can ever know what they have left us!
America was and has remained a sanctuary for displaced and oppressed peoples. What can be better than to know that America is a safe haven for our struggling siblings from abroad.
After 250 years, America is still a work in progress. But we can take time off to celebrate this once in our life time occasion and enjoy the biggest birthday party the world has seen.
This is the people’s party. Let’s celebrate the way we celebrate all our 4th of July birthdays in the past. Nothing big and extravagant. Get out the grill and sizzle the burgers and hot dogs. Invite neighbors and friends. Treat the children to the most spectacular fireworks display they ever saw.
Let our celebration be simple and feature all the American activities we have enjoyed in past years. This is the American people’s day to remember what a fortunate life we have been given. Let us give thanks for our blessings in whatever way we can.
And let us also remember that we have our own poor and disadvantaged all around us and they need our help and support.
July 4, 2026 is our day — the people’s day — to celebrate 250 years of freedom and democracy and on this day, we must not let current affairs disturb our thoughts as we chew our burgers and drink our sweet tea.
This is the people’s celebration. We give thanks to a higher power for 250 years of liberty and friendship, good people around us, and the freedom to speak our minds and the Post to print our thoughts.
So be it!
