How long will it take the Republicans to take that independent step that shows they have a spine? While some GOP Senators and Representatives are finally at least expressing some “grave concerns” about the murder of innocent U.S. citizens by a mob of out-of-control employees of the federal government, others vigorously defend the administration and blame those who oppose the president’s immigration policies for the murders.

After fertilization, an emerging human begins to grow a spine at about five weeks after fertilization. It takes about 12 to 18 months after birth for the spine to take the shape that allows babies to walk upright and take steps on their own.

Most have stayed silent as if the outrage in Minneapolis wasn’t happening. What is it going to take for them to take a stand and finally acknowledge that they have been led into a deepening mire of immorality and corruption? I don’t believe these are evil people, but they have been supporting evil policies and actions affecting the citizens of this and other countries.

When will the polls convince them, if their conscience does not, that it is not wise to continue to follow and support a leader who is delusional. Have they listened to the garbled nonsense that spurts out of the White House at all hours of the day and night? How long can they pretend that there is no danger in allowing him to act without any restraints?

Destroying the East Wing of the White House is indicative of his willingness to destroy much of what we as Americans have fought for and valued for 250 years. Using his position to further enrich himself, his family and his cronies shows his disdain for people who are struggling to make it month to month. His contempt for science overrides any concern for the environment, which invites further devastating fires, floods, and killing storms; and endangers the health of the population.

It would take only 16 Republicans to stop the madness of ICE and Border Control by voting with Democrats. It would take only 23 of them to impeach this very unpopular president.  So why is it so hard for GOP leaders to do what is right for their constituents? Fear of being primaried? They might be surprised to find it could work for them, or if it doesn’t, is losing an election the worst thing they can imagine?  If so, I feel very sorry for them.
