Join RCDP Senior Democrats on Tuesday, Dec. 16th at 1:00 pm to learn “How our NC Supreme Court turned Right.” Senior Dems will watch and discuss the  interview with Doug Clark about his article in ProPublica exposing Chief Justice Paul Newby’s plan for taking over the NC state judicial system, his politicizing of it, and how Newby’s influence now reaches beyond NC. Clark talks with Court Accountability Action, a pro democracy, non-partisan initiative hosted by Lisa Graves.

From Clark’s ProPublica article – “To tell Newby’s story, ProPublica interviewed over 70 people who know him professionally or personally, including former North Carolina justices and judges, lawmakers, longtime friends and family members. Many requested anonymity, saying they feared that he or his proxies would retaliate against them through the courts’ oversight system, the state bar association or the influence he wields more broadly.” This will be a very interesting discussion, particularly following our December breakfast with guest speaker, NC Associate Supreme Court Justice Anita Earls, who will be running for re-election in 2026.

Rowan County Democrats will continue equipping themselves with the tools needed to defend our democratic norms as 2026 unfolds. The Rowan County Democratic Party promotes the platform, candidates, and issues of the Democratic Party, specifically those that impact the current residents of Rowan County. We invite all who support our mission to join us. You do not have to be a registered Democrat to attend.

Rowan County Senior Democrats meet the third Tuesday of each month and will meet on Dec. 16th at 1:00 at 1504 W. Innes Street, Salisbury, NC 28144.
