So, what do we do now? Our fight to save the Oval Office from kingship begins now — in Congress. We have 100 senators and 435 representatives who are silent, and it is our job to write them, call them, hold them accountable/responsible for the king they have created.
“In every use of official power, the president is now a king above the law.”
“The court effectively creates a law-free zone around the president.”
“The court gives the president all the immunity he asked for and more.”
“With fear for our democracy, I dissent.” Justice Sonia Sotomayor – Dissent in Trump v United States
In the past months, I have written, and the Salisbury Post has been very open-minded and published, my bits of madness on the threats to our democracy under the Trump regime.
Perhaps readers think that I am off my rockers when I write about Machiavelli and one-man rule, fiefdom and kingdom, tyranny and anarchy and our shift from democracy to fascism. Troops in the streets are the first sign of fascism!
When I read the powerful dissent written by Justice Sotomayor, I knew that I was not insane, imagining things or unfairly blaming the president for his ridiculous words and selfish actions. My words were all true.
I blamed the Supreme Court and Congress.
The president of the U.S. of A thinks and acts like a king and the U.S. Supreme Court has now given him the power to do as he pleases with immunity.
The image Trump presents to the world is that of a recalcitrant little boy who has lost his pacifier! And that performance at the UN in front of the whole wide world?
The Daily Mirror on Sept. 24 after his UN speech wrote “Trump = World’s Most Powerful Man-baby,” and “Deranged.”
America needs a president who is a leader of the free world — a president who puts country first and self/ego last.
So, what do we the people do to take back our country from the king and remind him and the Supreme Court that we kicked out King George 250 years ago and we are not returning to “king-ship and one-man rule. Ever again!
There are two things we can do.
Vote.
Write our elected members in Congress and tell them they are replaceable.
Can ICE, DHS, FBI and the military arrest 100 million American voters and incarcerate them? No! Deport them? No!
So, we have the option to end this kingship, end this dictatorship, end this fascist regime in the making.
The easiest way is at the polls, but the news from the voting machines is that if Trump loses at the polls, he will declare the election fraudulent and disregard the results.
End of elections? Perhaps!
What’s next? The courts? Congress?
Where do we the people turn to, in order to reclaim and protect the democracy, the way of life we have cherished and enjoyed for 250 years?
Looking into the future, the 2026 mid-term elections is a year away. That is when our troubles really begin. We must face that scenario now.
So, what do we do now? Our fight to save the Oval Office from kingship begins now — in Congress. We have 100 senators and 435 representatives who are silent, and it is our job to write them, call them, hold them accountable/responsible for the king they have created.
Remind them that they are replaceable!
I have already written to senators Thom Tillis and Ted Budd. No answer is expected, but at least they may know how I feel. I also asked them to read Justice Sotomayor’s dissent.
Yes, we can also protest and make a lot of noise. But direct contact with the people we voted for (both parties) is one way to make them take notice and hear our collective voices.
We have lost the Supreme Court. We can try to save Congress with our voices/choices at the ballot box.
In the meantime, Justice Sotomayor’s dissent has assured me that when I was writing about Trump and his aspirations to be king, that I was not wrong in my reading of his dishonorable, egoistic intentions to turn our democratic country into his kingdom — and a fascist regime.
Please read Justice Sotomayor’s dissent.
