The NC State Board met on Wednesday, August 27th, in Raleigh and made a decision about hours and days for the 2025 Municipal Early Voting Calendar in Rowan Calendar. Preliminary details follow. Watch for follow-ups about all the decisions the Republican majority are making as they slashed voting freedoms for ALL North Carolinians.
THE GOOD & BAD & REALITY – Sadly the new Republican majority on the State Board of Elections continues to slash voting hours for the people of NC.
The bit of GOOD NEWS for Rowan is that we will have a Sunday during 2025 Municipal Early Voting. Our local board member, Dr. Catrelia Hunter, one of the two Democrats on our local board expertly represented ALL voters in Rowan County and not just a particular party line. Many thanks to her and Kenneth Stutts for their fairness and integrity, year after year.
BAD NEWS; the Republican majority prevailed and weekday voting hours will be reduced from 7:00 pm to 6:30 pm, Monday – Friday. An additional Saturday, as presented in our favorite plan, Plan C, was not adopted in the vote by the NC State Board. (only 1 Saturday)
REALITY! Now it’s time to get folks registered, to check your registration for any needed updates, (particularly women) and to support your candidates!
