Each and the Other, poem by Gerald Moose – image by Sawai Chinnawong, 1959

on the day
when love came

there was no more
we could do

powerless finally
at last

the rushing wind
gathered and lifted

our differing tongues
up in silent flame

all words and speech
consumed in radiant fire

we no longer
needed words

because we understood
each other
