If Election Board members aren’t willing to provide Saturday and Sunday voting, are those members simply saying that the votes these voters cast aren’t as important as other votes in Rowan County? Because every time they cut a Saturday or Sunday, those actions acutely affect Black and young voters.
Did you know that since 2016, Black voters and voters under 25 use weekend hours at a higher rate than the overall electorate in every general election? (https://dl.ncsbe.gov/?prefix=ENRS/) It’s on the state site, IF election board members actually want to plan an Early Voting calendar that benefits all the voters they represent. These rates keep increasing and in 2024, approximately 1 in 5 Black voters and 1 in 4 voters under 25 voted on the weekend.
