In answer to questions from our community – RCDP has no plans for a No Kings rally in Salisbury on June 14th. Instead, we will be knocking on doors to “Canvass for Our Courts” from 1-4 pm as we continue taking steps forward to talk with our neighbors about the importance of electing champions for democracy to our state’s highest courts. Please join us. https://rowancountydemocrats.com/event/canvass-for-our-courts/

In addition to RCDP’s June 14 event to Canvass for Our Courts, there is also a national evening response to Trump’s birthday party by the NO KINGS movement and the Committee for the First Amendment. Instead of a rallies across the nation, there is a huge concert planned in NYC and national organizers are encouraging people to watch from home or organize watch parties with friends.

This is your chance to reach out to those friends who might be hesitant to join a public NO KINGS rally. Individuals can sign up to host a small event at your home with friends and family or you can look for other events in the Piedmont region that might be larger and open to the general public. For specific information, visit https://www.nokings.org/.

NOTE: RCDP has had alerts from residents that they are receiving text messages and emails from many organizations that are promoting the national concert event. RCDP does not know of any public demonstrations planned in Rowan County as of 6/8/26. Our action for that day is to knock on doors and meet our neighbors.

From the national Committee for the First Amendment and No Kings organizations: Rise Up, Sing Out!

On June 14, join us for Rise Up, Sing Out: A Concert for the First Amendment — an uplifting evening of music, community, and action. Hosted by the Committee for the First Amendment (CFA), this special livestream event will feature an all-star lineup including Jane Fonda, Patti Smith, Bette Midler, Rufus Wainwright, Joy Reid, Wilson Cruz, Broadway Inspirational Voices, and more.

Together, we’ll celebrate the freedoms guaranteed by the First Amendment — including the freedoms of speech, religion, press, assembly, and protest — and the people power that protects them. Communities across the country will gather for local watch parties to livestream the 90-minute concert beginning at 7:30 p.m. ET.

Join us to sing along, connect with neighbors, share food and creativity, and celebrate the power we build when we come together. Whether you’re a longtime organizer or brand new to the movement, you’re invited to an evening of joy, inspiration, and collective action in support of democracy and freedom.
