Lori Hill comments upon the information meeting about proposed Salisbury Data Center. ” I have no doubt that some of those involved with coordinating this event had good intentions. The event was not about transparency, however. It was about amplifying one side of the story, the side of the data center developers.” Beth Foreman denounces the war in Iran. “As a taxpayer in North Carolina, I am outraged that my tax dollars are funding this violence and unlawful actions instead of essential social services like healthcare and food assistance.”
Lori Hill: Guise of Transparency
I was disappointed, disheartened and angered by the City of Salisbury’s “Town Hall” on Monday night. I had high hopes that our city officials were doing what our county officials failed to do: provide factual information in a timely manner, answer our questions and listen to our input. Instead, under the guise of transparency, they provided the stage for the data center developers to give us their sales pitch but chose not to provide that same stage to anyone who might counter the developer’s claims or who could educate us on the known risks about data centers (and all that is still unknown). City officials also rejected our request to ask questions and raise our concerns in the public forum, further shutting down any opposing or clarifying points.
I have no doubt that some of those involved with coordinating this event had good intentions. The event was not about transparency, however. It was about amplifying one side of the story, the side of the data center developers.
Beth Foreman: Say ‘No’ to this War
I join people across North Carolina and the entire nation in denouncing the United States and Israel’s illegal and immoral war with Iran. As a taxpayer in North Carolina, I am outraged that my tax dollars are funding this violence and unlawful actions instead of essential social services like healthcare and food assistance. Our nation’s budget is a moral document. It shows us what and who we value. This administration has clearly demonstrated that it does not value life, safety and well-being both at home and abroad. This war is a moral failure that we cannot accept.
