If RCDP has a regular refrain, it is “Don’t agonize, organize!” One of the most successful ways to get out the vote is relational organizing. A human connection is far more memorable and persuasive and we know it is one of the most effective ways to turn out the vote. And never forget, the 2025 municipals are also a time to work hard to get people registered AND to make voting a habit as the all important 2026 midterms approach!

Why do you matter? Recently many who read this newsletter answered the call to show up and advocate for a Sunday and an additional Saturday during Early Voting 2025. When the local board did not reach a unanimous decision, voters continued to call for accessible voting thought a petition, emails, and letters to the editor and all of those materials accompanied Rowan Board Member Catrelia Hunter to the Raleigh meeting. And even though the new Republican Board cut hours, Rowan kept a Sunday while Davidson and Union Counties lost theirs. Our voices can make a difference.

Join RCDP to knock on doors to share information about municipal elections. Canvassing is a great way to connect with our neighbors and build trust with our local party as a source for factual information. First-time canvassers are welcome. We’ll provide training, scripts, and everything you need to get started. You won’t be working alone!
