Take a lesson from Sherry M. Alexander and continue to contact your representatives, remembering to thank them and when they disappoint, continue the pressure of always voicing your opinion. “I am retired public school teacher who loves the unlovable, feeds the hungry, offers my time, energy and sometimes my finances to help people I don’t know. Isn’t that what our mission in life is?”
To The Honorable Senator Thom Tillis:
Thank you for saying out loud in public “the big beautiful bill” will hurt people in North Carolina. I think it will cause more trouble than good in the short and long term.

I am a retired public school teacher who loves the unlovable, feeds the hungry, offers my time, energy and sometimes my finances to help people I don’t know. Isn’t that what our mission in life is? We’re to look out for the underdog, the stranger, the widow, the fatherless and the foreigner. “There but by the grace of God go I.” While it is not a direct verse from the Bible, it is believed to have originated from a statement made by John Bradford, a 16th-century English reformer, who reportedly said, “There but for the grace of God, goes John Bradford,” upon seeing criminals being led to their execution.
This thing we’re doing, life, has consequences. We’re only given 120 +/- years to figure it out, while most of us only get 70 to 80 years. Those traits and values or fruit we are encouraged to display are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness and self control: against such there is no law. On the other hand, traits such as pride, wrath, slothfulness, greed, lust, envy and gluttony are deadly.
Thank you for your service. Thank you for standing up to an uncircumcised philistine army. Thank you. Please continue to speak up for love, truth and the American way. We’re all in this life together, what hurts the bees hurts us all.
