PRESS RELEASE: The Community Interfaith Prayer Vigil on Saturday, July 12th, 6 – 7 pm, is devoted to the safety of immigrants in our community and will be held in front of the Rowan County Administration Building, 130 West innes Street, Salisbury, NC. Instead of signs, please bring a heart filled with love.
Organizers, Citizens Concerned for Immigrant Safety, are concerned for immigrant safety in our community and have invited faith leaders to participate in brief remarks and a prayer in their faith tradition. Those speaking will include the Refugee Services Coordinator from Lutheran Services Carolinas, an organization whose “New Americans” resettlement program had a federal payment for $2.3 million cancelled by the current administration.
This is a permitted, nonpartisan event and will be a peaceful gathering of residents concerned that all people who live in our community are treated with respect and if arrested be granted their right of habeas corpus.
