The New North Carolina Presents a Town Hall Series, moderated by Dr. Aimy Steele, founder and executive director of the New North Carolina Project. Each evening of the series will feature activists and experts in the policy field. 

  • August 16 – Voting Rights with Tyler Daye of Common Cause, Allison Riggs of the Southern Coalition for Social Justice and Cheryl Carter of Democracy NC
  • August 30 – Reproductive Healthcare with Tara Romano of Pro Choice NC, and Kristie Puckett-Williams of the ACLU of NC
  • September 13 – Worker’s Rights
  • September 27 – Housing
  • October 11 – LGBTQ+ rights
  • October 25 – Local Offices with Millicent Rogers, Durham Public Schools Board Member

Thirteen people have thrown their hats in the race for five seats on the Rowan-Salisbury Schools Board of Education after filing closed at noon on Friday.

North area

  • Dean Hunter (incumbent and current chair), filed Aug. 18
  • Ruth Marohn, filed July 22
