May 10th Breakfast: Guest Speaker Scott Shelton talks about Economic Development –

The local Democratic Party regularly invites knowledgeable speakers for informative talks on topics that affect residents. May’s guest speaker, Scott Shelton, currently serves as the vice president of the Rowan Economic Development Council in Salisbury, North Carolina and will help us learn more about economic development in Rowan County.

Rowan Democrats, unaffiliated voters, and moderate conservatives are invited to join local Dems on Saturday, May 10th, at 10:00 AM to hear about a subject specific to Rowan County. RCDP Headquarters is located at West Innes Street, Salisbury, NC and doors open at 9:45. Please bring a dish to share for our breakfast potluck.

May’s guest speaker, Scott Shelton, currently serves as the vice president of the Rowan Economic Development Council in Salisbury, North Carolina and will help us learn more about economic development in Rowan County.  For example, the Charlotte Business Journal named Rowan County as one of the region’s hot spots for new business activity. Shelton is responsible for the overall project management of both the existing industry expansion and company recruitment efforts of the Rowan EDC.  He also works with our public and private sector partners to identify, enhance, and maintain an inventory of certified shovel-ready sites in Rowan County. Responsible for the preparation and submittal of completed RFIs for recruitment projects as well as maintaining the Rowan EDC database of available properties, Shelton works with existing industries and local municipalities to provide information and support as needed.

Scott is a member of the North Carolina Economic Development Association and the International Economic Development Council.
