The night of March 19th, concerned residents of North Carolina’s 6th Congressional district gathered in Lexington for the first physical town hall held in-district. While Rep. Addison McDowell held a difficult-to-access telephone town hall the day prior, citizens from Cabarrus to Guilford County came together to speak and be heard.
(Rep. McDowell declined to attend or send a confirmation or denial.)
Attendees heard from Scott Huffman, a former Congressional candidate and veteran, NCDP chair Anderson Clayton, former teachers and principals, familiar faces like Eva Knight, activists, former Congressional candidate and RCDP third vice-chair Andy Craighill-Middleton, NC Disability Caucus chair Pamela McAfee, and even the Davidson County Libertarian Party chair.
The crowd was engaged, civil, and brought a range of discussion topics, from veterans’ healthcare and public school funding to mental health supports, disability issues, Medicaid funding, LGBTQ+ issues, and more. We’ve attached photos and videos from some of the event below:
