I have been reflecting on our current legal and political state of affairs. What possible piece of music could be uplifting given the momentous goings on in lower Manhattan and the first criminal trial of a former U.S. president? Someone suggested Johnny Cash’s “Folsom Prison Blues,” tongue firmly in cheek. Thank you, but no. The outcome of the trial won’t heal this country, no matter the decision. We face a weeks-long ordeal with witnesses detailing things most of us would rather not know about Donald Trump.

So I thought this Sunday we all needed a reason to smile that would also offer hope and encouragement … and might get you on your feet. What better than Gloria Gaynor’s “I Will Survive.”
