“Stop this nonsense, your actions are hurting people.”

In my humble opinion, we need a Constitutional amendment that requires Congress to reach an agreement on the budget every year by a certain date. If it doesn’t, it should be dissolved and snap elections held like in most other countries. 

This would make legislators more amenable to the will of their constituents (most of whom are fed up with the political theater) and it would also prevent them from collecting a congressional salary (which they get even during a shutdown). 

Stop this nonsense, your actions are hurting people. Do your job. Make a deal.
