If you missed the #UniteNC Town Hall that was in Salisbury on August 17th, here’s your chance to hear what your neighbors think.
Residents attending spoke about subjects of concern, from public schools to reproductive health to reducing gun violence to protecting voting rights and democracy to homelessness and housing costs to name but a few. None of our NC General Assembly elected officials from Rowan County chose to attend. (Carl Ford, Harry Warren, Julia Howard, Kevin Crutchfield) Common Cause NC promises to carry residents’ concerns to Raleigh.
Other discussion centered around the importance of regular involvement by residents on the local level. Questions arose as to why money does not seem to be spent on services that people need and that may be found in other counties. Group interest led to discuss the source of much funding in our county and the lack of community knowledge of or attendance at County Commissioners meetings. The schedule was shared. Rowan Commissioners meet on the 1st Monday of every month at 3 pm and the 3rd Monday of every month at 6 pm at Rowan County Administration Building, J. Newton Cohen Sr. Room, 2nd Floor, 130 W Innes Street, Salisbury, NC 28144.
