Marlon Hash, “I know we get frustrated with the violence, but to be honest that is an American problem. I just want to shout out the good that I see and there is a lot of it! Salisbury is not all bad.”

I was recently having an interesting conversation with city councilman and pastor Anthony Smith. We concentrate on the bad here in Salisbury so much that the good gets overlooked. Let me explain. These are my thoughts, 

I’m not originally from Salisbury. I was born in Wytheville, Virginia and I lived there until I was around 14 years old and moved to Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. I lived there for one year. Then we moved to Winston-Salem, North Carolina. I graduated from Parkland high School there. When I was in college at South Carolina State University, my parents moved to Salisbury and started a church, Love Christian Center. I’m saying all this to say I have lived some places other than Salisbury. 

There are a lot of good people in this city. That gets overlooked because of some knuckleheads. We have NFL talent, NBA talent, and currently have two outstanding young men playing major college football in the state of Georgia. Not to mention the countless other young men & women playing college sports at some level.  Not only that, I see so many young kids going on to college and doing great things. Even the kids who don’t go to college are out here being entrepreneurs, doing things via the Internet, etc. that my generation couldn’t even think of coming up with. Young ladies owning their own fashion boutiques, young men and women baking & selling food, etc. I see young men and women getting in the real estate game early. 

Y’all get my point. This is just a shout out for all of the good in Salisbury. 

I know we get frustrated with the violence, but to be honest that is an American problem. I just want to shout out the good that I see and there is a lot of it! Salisbury is not all bad.
