Pat Bullard, “Organize to tackle these issues and try to oust Republicans from state control in the future. You can do it, I know you can.”
I am heartbroken for the losses, Cheri Beasley, NC Supreme Court, and the appeals courts most of all. We must do something about the dirty money let loose by SCOTUS ‘Citizens United’ and work to get the Fairness Doctrine back in place. Many of you may not recall the Fairness Doctrine that required all media reporting to be fair and balanced, and wiped away with the Reagan regime.
You guys and gals worked so hard and I am proud of you. We also need to challenge national Democratic leaders for their failures to provide more support for Cheri Beasley. And the loss of the courts and too much control in the General Assembly by Republicans puts so much in jeopardy.
We must find a way to end gerrymandering. We certainly won’t have the courts to help us in that arena.
I suggest you discuss all of this at your Breakfast Saturday. I wish I could be there, but I cannot. Get folks working on this NOW in preparation for the next elections. NC’s only hope now is Gov. Cooper.
At least many other states did better than NC, and many election deniers were denied. Maybe there is overall hope our US democratic republic can be saved.
As an example of how dirty money had its impact, my daughter just informed me that my oldest great grandchild was upset that her mother voted for Cheri because she thought Cheri was a bad person because of all of the dirty money ads.
Many of us did all we could do, and thank you for that. I keep thinking, if only I had won Publishers Clearing House, I could have given more money to counteract all that dirty money and dirty ads.
Organize to tackle these issues and try to oust Republicans from state control in the future. You can do it, I know you can.
