George’s family has asked the RCDP to invite his friends to a memorial service on Saturday, Sept. 3, 2022 at 11:00 am at Maupin Avenue Presbyterian Church, 100 Maupin Ave, Salisbury, NC 28144.

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of George W. Benson on August 22, 2022. A member of the Rowan County Board of Elections, George was  proud to be appointed to serve his community in this important way and worked diligently to provide fair, safe, and accessible voting.  George saw his position as a servant to all of the people of Rowan County. This good man will be sorely missed in Rowan County and by numerous friends and beloved family.
